Express Entry

Express Entry is a Canadian immigration system that manages applications for permanent residence (PR) under three federal economic immigration programs:

the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSW), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FST), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

Permanent Residency through Express Entry

Express Entry uses a points-based system to assess candidates based on factors like age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and adaptability. Eligible candidates enter the Express Entry pool, and those with the highest scores are invited to apply (ITA) for permanent residency during regular draws conducted by the government. It’s a streamlined and efficient way for skilled workers to immigrate to Canada.

Express Entry Profile

Create a Profile: Eligible candidates must create an Express Entry profile online. The profile includes information about their work experience, education, language proficiency, and other relevant details. Profiles in the Express Entry pool are assigned scores based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).

Additional CRS points: additional points might be obtained with a valid job offer or provincial nomination, and other criteria.

Invitations to Apply (ITAs):

Draws: Periodic draws are conducted from the Express Entry pool. Candidates with the highest CRS scores receive Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residence.

Application Period: Successful candidates who receive an ITA must submit their application for permanent residence within a specified time frame.

Here, we explain each stream in detail;

Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

  • CHECK YOUR ELIGIBILITY FOR THE CANADIAN EXPERIENCE CLASS
  • Understanding the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) Program: CEC is administered under the Express Entry system, utilizing the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to assess candidates. Applicants with competitive CRS scores receive invitations to apply for Canadian permanent residence.
  • Eligibility for Canadian Experience Class Program: To qualify for CEC, a candidate must have at least 12 months of full-time (or equivalent part-time) skilled work experience in Canada within the past three years. Foreign nationals without recent Canadian work experience are not eligible for CEC.
  • Candidates meeting these requirements are eligible to submit an Express Entry profile for the Canadian Experience Class program. However, adherence to Canada’s basic admissibility requirements is crucial, considering factors like criminal offenses and medical conditions.

Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

  • Calculating Canadian Experience Class CRS Points: Express Entry invites CEC candidates based on their CRS scores. Calculate your points using IRCC CRS calculator tool.
  • PROOF OF FUNDS FOR CEC: Proof of funds is not a requirement for the CEC program. No documentation regarding finances is needed.
  • Is a job offer necessary for CEC Program application?
  • No, a job offer is not a mandatory requirement for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) program application. However, if you do have a valid job offer, it can contribute additional points to your CRS score, potentially increasing your chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.
